Parent/Child Journey
1
Information Session
In June or July, parents and children are invited, via their school, to come to an Information Session.
This session explains a little more about HCPT Group 3 and encourages any questions.
2
First Home Visit
In September, the first Home Visit takes place.
The Group Leader, Isa, along with one other person, will visit the child and family in their home.
We will discuss the child's needs, to make sure that we are able to safely care for your child.
Any questions or concerns are also addressed.
3
Continuing Home Visits
Between October and January, Isa and another helper will visit you and your child, in your home, at least twice more.
We continue to gather lots of information about the child, getting to know them more.
4
February Home Visit
During our first Helper Training Weekend, at least 2 of our helpers will come and visit you and your child in your home.
This is a chance for you to meet some more people who will be caring for your child, and for our helpers to meet and get to know your child too.
5
March Group Meeting
During our second Helper Training Weekend, we have our Group Meeting - the first time the whole group is together!
Any bulky items and all medication is collected in, ahead of our trip, and we share lots of important information too.
6
Holiday to Lourdes!
And, of course, in April, we fly to Lourdes for a fantastic trip!
All our photos are put on Facebook, for friends and family to see!
Generally, we travel for 7 nights, although this is subject to change.
Helper Journey
1
Information Sessions
From June to September, Information Sessions happen for new helpers who are interested in joining us.
It's a chance to understand what being a helper means and ask any questions, without any commitment.
2
Commitment
In September, we ask for your commitment to being a helper. It's your chance to jump all in, and help us give children with special needs a holiday of a lifetime.
Helper commitment means that we can commit to the children that we are visiting too.
3
Fundraising
All helpers do their individual fundraising, and they do that between September and April (before we go).
We also do our Group Fundraising at Christmas, bucket collecting on the streets in Cheltenham. Last year, this raised over £4000!
4
First Training Weekend
In February, we have our first Helper Training Weekend. With lots of time to chat and get to know each other, we also learn about the children we will take, cover more general training, and find out what our trip will look like!
5
Second Training Weekend
Our second Training Weekend happens in March.
We discuss the children again, prep for the holiday and continue our generic training.
By this point, we also have more detailed information about timings of the trip.
6
Holiday to Lourdes!
And, of course, in April, we fly to Lourdes with all the children, to take them on a trip of a lifetime!
All our photos are put on Facebook, for friends and family to see!
Generally, we travel for 7 nights, although this is subject to change.
